Alpine: a brand born on Alpine roads Alpine is a French automobile manufacturer, owned by the Renault group. The company was founded in Dieppe, Normandy, in 1955, under the impetus of Jean Rédélé, then a Renault dealer.
The story began on race tracks: Rédélé distinguished himself in the Dieppe-Rouen rally, the Mille Miglia, and in alpine events, where he achieved his best performances. It is in reference to these successes on winding mountain passes that his automobiles would take the name Alpine.
A rebirth driven by Renault After production of the A610 ceased, Alpine disappeared from the catalog for nearly two decades. On November 5, 2012, Carlos Ghosn, then CEO of Renault, announced the brand's revival. Production officially restarted on December 15, 2017, with the inauguration of the Alpine A110 assembly line.
Since 2021, Alpine has also been involved in Formula 1, as the new designation for the Renault team.
The most sought-after Alpines in Switzerland Alpine models appeal to drivers who prioritize lightness, precision, and driving pleasure. The range has expanded over the years, with the arrival of new variants and engines.
Alpine A110: the modern berlinette, appreciated for its aluminum chassis, agility, and contained weight.
Alpine A110 S: a more powerful and sharper version, intended for dynamic driving enthusiasts.
Alpine A110 R: the most radical variant of the range, lightened and performance-oriented.
Alpine A290: the brand's first electric sport city car, to be launched from 2024.
Alpine A390: the first SUV to bear the arrowed A, expected in 2026.
Collector Alpine A110: the Berlinettes from the 1960s and 1970s, sought after for their history and their place in French automotive heritage.
A sporting legacy still alive Alpine marked rally history by winning the first World Rally Championship title in 1973, with 155 points ahead of Fiat and Ford. This track record, combined with the victory of the M64 prototype at the 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans, forms the foundation of the brand's sporting identity.
Today, Alpine embodies a French alternative to German and Italian sports cars: lighter, more agile, and carrying a history deeply linked to the alpine roads.
