Publication rules on 80k.ch
Contents
Version: October 2026
80k.ch is a platform dedicated to premium, sports, luxury and classic vehicles with a sale price equal to or greater than CHF 80,000.
These rules are intended to ensure reliable, transparent and high-quality advertisements, whilst protecting buyers, sellers and the platform's reputation.
1. Role of 80k.ch
80k.ch is a platform for publishing and connecting sellers and buyers. 80k.ch is neither a seller, nor a buyer, nor an agent in the transaction, and does not intervene in the exchanges between seller and buyer.
The publication of an advertisement on 80k.ch does not constitute:
- a certification of the vehicle;
- a technical assessment;
- a guarantee of its condition;
- a guarantee of its mileage or history;
- a validation of its origin or its administrative compliance;
- a guarantee of the vehicle's availability;
- an estimate of its future value.
The seller remains responsible for the accuracy and legality of the information they publish.
2. Review before publication
No advertisement is published automatically. Every advertisement is first sent to the 80k.ch back office, where it is reviewed manually. It remains offline until it has been approved.
80k.ch may request information or supporting documents, request a correction, refuse an advertisement or remove it at any time if it does not comply with these rules.
This review does not replace the seller's responsibility, nor the checks that the buyer must carry out before any purchase decision.
3. Eligible vehicles
One vehicle per advertisement
- An advertisement corresponds to a single, identifiable vehicle.
- The same vehicle must not be published multiple times simultaneously on 80k.ch.
- It is forbidden to group several vehicles in a single advertisement.
- The make, model, version, year and identity of the vehicle must correspond to reality.
Publication threshold
Vehicles offered on 80k.ch must have a sale price equal to or greater than CHF 80,000. Vehicles with a price below this threshold will not be published.
The price must correspond to the vehicle actually being offered and to the sale conditions indicated in the advertisement.
The seller must be authorised to sell the vehicle
The seller must be the owner of the vehicle or have valid authorisation to offer it for sale.
The following are permitted in particular:
- private owners;
- garages and dealerships;
- car dealers;
- importers;
- agents;
- vehicles on consignment;
- vehicles belonging to a client where a sales mandate exists.
A vehicle on consignment, under a mandate, or belonging to a third party must be presented transparently.
Non-existent or unavailable vehicles
The following advertisements are not permitted:
- for a vehicle that does not exist;
- used solely to gather enquiries or contacts;
- presenting a vehicle that has already been sold as available;
- using the information or photos of another vehicle;
- intended primarily to attract prospects without a vehicle actually being offered.
An upcoming vehicle or one that is in transit may be published if its status, location, expected availability and the role of the seller are clearly indicated.
4. Required information
All published information must be accurate, consistent and verifiable.
This concerns in particular:
- make;
- model and version;
- year;
- date of first registration;
- mileage;
- engine;
- power;
- transmission;
- number of owners when this information is known;
- origin of the vehicle;
- country of import;
- import status;
- general condition;
- service history;
- accidents and repairs;
- type-approval status;
- expert report;
- price;
- availability.
Correct use of fields
Each field must be used for its intended information.
It is forbidden, in particular, to use the vehicle fields to display:
- a telephone number;
- an email address;
- an address;
- a promotion;
- a monthly leasing payment;
- an advertising message;
- information unrelated to the vehicle.
The equipment and options must actually be present on the vehicle or be justifiable.
5. Vehicle identification and VIN
When the chassis number (VIN) is requested or provided, it must correspond to the vehicle being offered.
It is forbidden:
- to publish the VIN of another vehicle;
- to falsify or modify a chassis number;
- to present a vehicle under the identity of another vehicle;
- to modify the information used to identify the vehicle.
80k.ch may request a document to verify the identity of the vehicle in case of doubt.
6. Price, fees and financing
The displayed price must correspond to the actual asking price for the vehicle, under the conditions indicated in the advertisement.
The seller must clearly indicate, where relevant:
- whether VAT is included;
- whether the price is intended for a private individual or a professional;
- mandatory fees;
- preparation fees;
- import or homologation fees;
- whether delivery is included;
- warranty conditions;
- whether the price is firm or subject to certain conditions.
Prohibited
It is specifically prohibited to:
- publish a price lower than the actual asking price;
- conceal mandatory fees;
- display only a monthly leasing payment instead of the vehicle price;
- present a financing rate or offer in an incomplete or misleading manner;
- display a price that is dependent on unstated conditions.
Professional sellers must comply with the applicable legal provisions regarding price indication, credit and leasing.
Electric vehicles
Where relevant, the advertisement must specify:
- whether the battery is included;
- whether it is leased;
- whether a subscription is required;
- additional fees related to the battery or an associated service.
The buyer must be able to clearly understand what they are acquiring for the advertised price.
7. Condition, inspection and history
Inspection
The term "inspected" must correspond to the actual situation of the vehicle.
The advertisement must allow for a clear distinction between:
- inspected vehicle;
- vehicle requiring inspection;
- unregistered vehicle;
- vehicle not homologated for road use;
- vehicle intended for competition.
Phrases such as:
- "inspected today";
- "newly inspected";
- "inspection guaranteed";
may only be used when they genuinely correspond to the vehicle's situation.
Accidents and damage
Transparency regarding accidents and repairs is mandatory.
The expression "accident-free" may only be used when the seller can reasonably substantiate it.
A vehicle that has sustained significant damage must be presented as having been in an accident, particularly when the damage concerns:
- the structure;
- the chassis;
- the load-bearing elements;
- the airbags;
- the safety systems;
- several mechanical or bodywork components.
Significant repairs must be described as precisely as possible, including:
- nature of the damage;
- work carried out;
- parts replaced;
- workshop that performed the work;
- available documents;
- inspection or check carried out.
In case of doubt, the most transparent wording should be preferred.
8. Mileage and first registration
The mileage must correspond to the vehicle presented.
If the engine, the odometer, or a major component related to the mileage has been replaced, this information must be clearly indicated.
The replacement of an engine does not automatically reset the vehicle's total mileage to zero.
It is prohibited:
- to artificially alter the mileage;
- to present the engine mileage as the vehicle's mileage without explanation;
- to confuse the date of manufacture with the first registration;
- to present a previously registered vehicle as new without explanation.
The date of first registration must be accurate.
9. Imported vehicles
An imported vehicle must be identified as such.
Where relevant, the advertisement must specify:
- country of origin;
- import status;
- whether or not the vehicle has cleared customs;
- whether or not the vehicle is already registered in Switzerland;
- whether or not homologation is required;
- whether or not an inspection is required;
- any taxes and fees remaining to be paid;
- administrative procedures remaining to be completed.
The seller is responsible for the accuracy of the information relating to the import and registration.
10. New and demonstration vehicles
A vehicle may only be presented as new if this designation genuinely corresponds to its condition, mileage and registration history.
Where relevant, the advertisement must specify:
- date of manufacture;
- first registration;
- mileage;
- start of the manufacturer's warranty;
- any previous registration.
Demonstration vehicles
A demonstration vehicle must be clearly identified as such.
Its advertisement must mention, where relevant:
- date of first registration;
- mileage;
- previous use;
- start of warranty;
- current condition.
11. Collector and historic vehicles
Classic and collector vehicles may have an incomplete history.
This situation must be explained and not concealed.
When the mileage cannot be confirmed, the seller must, where the information is available:
- indicate this clearly;
- specify if it is an estimate;
- explain why the mileage is not verifiable;
- describe the vehicle's condition;
- mention any known work carried out;
- distinguish between the chassis mileage and that of a replacement engine.
Advertisements may specifically present:
- known history;
- provenance;
- previous owners, when this information may be published;
- restorations;
- original condition;
- modifications;
- documentation;
- inspection;
- homologation;
- certifications or registers.
Claims such as "Matching Numbers", "original engine", "original chassis", "concours restoration", "one owner", "exceptional provenance" or any other specific claim must correspond to reality and be capable of being substantiated upon request by 80k.ch.
12. Photographs, videos and documents
The photos must represent the actual vehicle offered for sale.
They must:
- be sufficiently recent;
- be clear and legible;
- represent the actual condition of the vehicle;
- not mislead the buyer;
- belong to the seller or be used with the necessary authorisation.
Generic manufacturer photos must not be used to suggest that they represent the available vehicle.
Editing and artificial intelligence
Photos are not to be modified by artificial intelligence. Only minor corrections to brightness, contrast or framing are permitted, provided they do not alter the true perception of the vehicle.
It is forbidden to artificially modify:
- colour;
- bodywork;
- wheels;
- paintwork condition;
- damage;
- interior;
- equipment;
- mileage;
- registration plates or identification elements;
- apparent mechanical condition;
- background or location of the shot.
Prohibited information on images
Photos and videos must not legibly display the following, where not necessary for the listing:
- telephone number;
- email address;
- private address;
- personal data;
- bank details;
- misleading promotional text;
- a price different from the listing price.
Registration plates must be obscured when their publication is not necessary.
A discreet seller's logo may appear when the seller holds the necessary rights.
Rights
The seller must hold the necessary rights to:
- photos;
- videos;
- texts;
- documents;
- logos;
- restoration images;
- historical documents.
The seller is responsible for any violation of third-party rights resulting from the content they publish.
13. AI-assisted import and delegated publication
AI-assisted import
To facilitate data entry, 80k.ch offers an import assisted by artificial intelligence. The AI reads the vehicle's details and suggests values for the listing's fields (price, mileage, exterior colour, etc.).
When the AI is not certain of a value, the field is flagged, and the user must check and validate it manually.
Photos are imported as is. They are never edited by the AI.
The seller remains responsible for the accuracy of all published information, including that suggested by the AI.
Publication delegated to 80k.ch
The seller may entrust the publication of their vehicle to 80k.ch by providing its details and photos.
80k.ch creates the listing on behalf of the seller, who remains the seller of the vehicle. Buyers contact the seller directly.
When making their request, the seller chooses between two modes:
- Publication in private mode: the seller approves the listing before it goes live.
- Publication in public mode: the seller authorises 80k.ch to publish the listing directly online.
In both cases, the listing remains subject to the manual checks described in section 2, and the seller assumes full responsibility for its content, even if they have not checked the listing. It is their responsibility to answer buyers' questions.
Delegated publication includes neither negotiation nor the sale: 80k.ch does not intervene in the exchanges between the seller and the buyer.
14. Seller identity and contact
Identification by 80k.ch
All sellers are identified by 80k.ch, which may request information or supporting documents from them. This information is not necessarily public. It must be accurate and kept up to date, and any information intended to conceal the seller's true identity is prohibited.
Private sellers
To protect their privacy, private individuals are presented under a pseudonym. Their name, address, email and telephone number are not published on the site, and they must not include them in the text, fields or photos of the listing.
Professional sellers
The name of the garage or company is displayed on the listing. 80k.ch endeavours to visit every professional with whom it works.
The "Garage Verification" badge is only awarded after all of 80k.ch's checks have been completed: identification of contacts, verification of the garage's existence and activity, notably via its Google Business profile, and a visit to the garage. A professional who does not meet all these conditions will not receive this badge, without this indicating a problem.
A badge solely attests to the checks that have been carried out. It constitutes neither a guarantee on the vehicles offered nor a recommendation.
Where available, the professional's Google Business rating may be displayed.
Contact
Only users logged in to 80k.ch may contact a seller, via the form on the listing. The buyer submits their contact details (surname, first name, email, telephone). The seller is free to decide whether or not to contact them back.
15. Availability and updates
The seller must keep their listing up to date.
The listing must be modified or deactivated when:
- the vehicle is sold, including through another channel;
- the vehicle is reserved;
- a promise to sell is signed;
- the vehicle leaves the stock;
- the vehicle is no longer available;
- the vehicle is undergoing financing where this affects its availability;
- the price changes;
- the mileage changes;
- important information is corrected.
A reserved or unavailable vehicle must not be presented as immediately available.
80k.ch may ask the seller to confirm or update a listing when it has not been updated for an extended period.
It is forbidden to delete and then immediately republish the same listing solely to make it appear as a new listing.
16. Titles and descriptions
The title must clearly identify the vehicle.
It may contain, in particular:
- make;
- model;
- version;
- year;
- a genuinely verifiable distinctive feature.
Titles composed solely of terms such as:
- "urgent";
- "great deal";
- "bargain price";
- "must go";
- "guaranteed investment";
are not accepted.
Terms such as "rare", "unique", "matching numbers", "one owner", "accident-free", "Swiss origin" or "as new" must be used only when they correspond to real facts.
Descriptions must remain precise, useful and understandable.
17. Advertising, spam and irrelevant listings
A listing must correspond to a vehicle genuinely offered for sale.
The following are not permitted in the vehicles section:
- advertisements without an identifiable vehicle;
- listings intended solely to promote a garage or a business;
- listings intended to collect contact details;
- repetitive listings for the same vehicle;
- listings containing only a provision of service;
- listings relating solely to parts or accessories.
Listings for parts, rims, tyres, exhausts, workshop services or merchandise may only be published in a specific section if one is created by 80k.ch.
18. Measures in case of non-compliance
80k.ch may, where it deems necessary:
- request information or supporting documents;
- request a correction;
- modify the presentation of a listing to bring it into compliance with the rules, without altering its essential characteristics;
- refuse a listing or temporarily hide it;
- delete a listing;
- prevent its republication;
- temporarily limit an account;
- suspend or delete an account in the event of repeated abuse.
Possible measures
Depending on the seriousness of the situation:
1. request for correction;
2. temporary hiding;
3. deletion of the listing;
4. temporary suspension of the account;
5. permanent exclusion from the platform.
80k.ch may act immediately, without prior warning, when a listing presents a significant risk of fraud, deception, security issues or infringement of third-party rights.
19. Seller's liability
The seller is responsible for:
- the accuracy of the published information;
- the availability of the vehicle;
- the legality of the sale;
- the accuracy of the price;
- the declaration of accidents and repairs;
- the history provided;
- the rights to the published content;
- the documents provided;
- the responses provided to buyers.
This responsibility also applies when the listing has been prepared with the help of AI or its publication has been delegated to 80k.ch.
The publication of a listing on 80k.ch does not transfer any of these responsibilities to 80k.ch.
The buyer remains responsible for their own checks and must, where relevant, request the necessary documents and arrange an inspection of the vehicle before any purchase decision.
20. Legal framework
These rules constitute publication rules specific to 80k.ch.
They do not replace the legal obligations applicable to the seller or the transaction.
Depending on the situation, sellers must, in particular, comply with the applicable rules regarding:
- price indication;
- unfair competition;
- leasing and consumer credit;
- importation;
- registration and inspection;
- emissions and the energy label;
- data protection;
- copyright;
- image rights.
In the event of a contradiction between these rules and a mandatory legal provision, the applicable law shall prevail.
21. Data protection
Users' personal data is processed in accordance with the 80k.ch privacy policy.
Users must avoid publishing personal data in listings that is not necessary for the sale of the vehicle.
22. Changes to the rules
80k.ch may adapt these rules where necessary due to:
- changes in legislation;
- changes in market practices;
- new methods of fraud;
- technological developments;
- security needs;
- platform developments.
The applicable version is the one published on 80k.ch at the relevant time.
The essential rule
A good 80k listing must provide clear answers to three questions:
1. What vehicle is genuinely being offered?
2. In what condition and on what terms is it being sold?
3. Who is the seller and how can buyers contact them on 80k.ch?
At 80k, the quality of a listing is not measured by the number of superlatives used, but by the trust it inspires.
Before you publish
Check that:
In the event of any discrepancy between the language versions, the French version shall prevail.
