To buy a used Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door in Switzerland, check the engine first, not just the option packs.
The GT 53 for sale has six cylinders and EQ Boost. This system helps the engine with electric power. It differs from the V8 GT 63 and E Performance hybrids.

Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door at a glance
The AMG GT 4-Door was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018. It carries the X290 code. It was built from September 2018 to November 2025. Production began in Sindelfingen. In 2023, it moved to Valmet Automotive in Uusikaupunki, Finland.
It shares its MRA base with the related Mercedes-AMG E 63. The new electric AMG GT 4-Door was first shown in May 2026. This second generation is not the same as the fuel and hybrid versions covered here.

Versions — Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door
AMG GT 43 4Matic+

The 3.0-litre inline-six gives 367 hp and 500 Nm. 48 V EQ Boost helps with 22 hp and 250 Nm. The claimed time from 0 to 100 km/h is 4.9 s. Top speed is 270 km/h.
Do not just add the electric boost to the rated engine output when you compare ads. Check the version, options and past work on the electric system in the original records.
AMG GT 53 4Matic+

The GT 53 has a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine with a turbo and an electric compressor. It gives 435 hp and 520 Nm. EQ Boost helps with 22 hp and 250 Nm.
It reaches 100 km/h in 4.5 s and has a top speed of 285 km/h. Its 9-speed automatic uses a torque converter. Do not use the MCT name from the old ad. It has steel springs and controlled dampers.
The 2022 car for sale on 80k is this version. The two photos show the front and side of a GT 53 X290. They do not show the state of the car for sale.
AMG GT 63 and 63 S

The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 is a different type of engine. The GT 63 gives 585 hp and 800 Nm. The GT 63 S gives 639 hp and 900 Nm. The photo shows a facelift GT 63 S.
A styling pack does not prove which engine a car has. Check the car papers, full name and original bill. Judge the work needed from the state of the brakes and tyres, plus the AMG records.
AMG GT 63 S E Performance

The E Performance pairs the 639 hp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor at the rear. Together, they give 843 hp. It is the most powerful GT 4-Door of the first generation (X290).
These combined figures are not for the GT 53. Have the hybrid system checked and read the cover terms for this version. A basic check does not replace tests of the electric systems.
What to check before buying in Switzerland
AMG service history
Ask for the service book and bills. Match the work to the mileage. Full records should show what was done and what is still due. Ask about gaps before you agree to buy.
Brakes and tyres
Have the brakes and tyres checked for wear and damage. Ask about shakes, past repairs and parts that do not fit. Get a quote for parts that need to be changed. Looks alone are not enough.
EQ Boost and 48 V battery
Have EQ Boost and the 48 V battery tested with the right tools. Ask for past warnings, work and parts changed. A car that starts well does not prove that all its past electric faults are known.
Software and warranties
Check software updates and the written terms of any cover or extension. Ask what is covered, what is not, and whether cover passes to you. Do not assume it covers all features or worn parts.
Equipment and original invoice
Match Executive, Night package and other options to the original bill. Test each feature. Check which parts came from the factory and which were added later. An ad title does not replace the car papers.
Swiss origin or import
Check where the car came from and read its papers. Look for changes in options or cover. Clear up import papers before you buy. A car in Switzerland was not always first sold there.
Winter tyres and MFK inspection
Plan for tyres that suit Swiss winters. Read the MFK report, the official Swiss vehicle check, or the papers your canton requires. It does not replace AMG checks of the car’s moving parts and electric systems.
