Unveiled in September 2019, a few months after the F8 Tributo at the Geneva Motor Show, the F8 Spider succeeds the 488 Spider by adopting the 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 pushed to 720 hp at 8'000 rpm and 770 Nm — mechanics derived from the 488 Pista, voted "International Engine of the Year" four consecutive years from 2016 to 2019. Its very name is a tribute: F8 for eight cylinders, Tributo to celebrate the most awarded engine in the brand's history. The retractable hardtop folds in fourteen seconds, at speeds up to 45 km/h, without compromising cabin space. Production ended in 2023: the F8 closes the chapter on pure V8 mid-engine Ferrari berlinettas, opened in 1975 with the 308 GTB — its successor, the 296, moves to a plug-in hybrid V6. A 2023 Spider model therefore belongs to the very final year of this lineage.
