Presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 1994, the F512 M concluded the lineage begun ten years earlier by the Testarossa. The "M" for Modificata marked a thorough overhaul of the 512 TR: fixed headlights under clear covers replacing the pop-up units, a redesigned front lid with twin NACA ducts, a smooth rear panel, and four round taillights. Produced until 1996 in just 501 examples, it remains the rarest of the three iterations and the final production Ferrari powered by a mid-mounted flat-12 engine. Beneath the rear engine cover, the 4.9-litre flat-12 received titanium connecting rods, forged pistons, and a raised compression ratio: 440 hp, compared to 428 on the 512 TR. The chassis followed suit, featuring lightened Koni shock absorbers, aluminium hubs, and cross-drilled ventilated discs backed by ABS. The five-speed manual gearbox gained revised synchronisers and a reworked, more precise linkage. Behind the wheel, the F512 M retains the imposing footprint of the family, yet proves significantly more responsive when driven with intent.
